Our Mission
Powder Systems Technologies Inc. is a powder coating applicator with a successful track record balancing all the capabilities of a much larger company working for industry with the ability and commitment to satisfy the needs of the private individual with his personal powder coating requests like a very small company.
Company Profile
We are owned and managed by Carl LoBue and Clarence Hunt. Our background in this industry started in industrial painting (Clarence) and auto finishing (Carl) and we came together at Tri Electronics Corp. in Cheektowaga, N.Y. where we performed numerous chemical coating processes and technical screen printing. We joined our former vice president at Tri who left and started Plastic Systems in 1988. When we started Carl had 8 years experience at Tri gained in industrial painting taught by his mentor Clarence who by that time had been doing it for almost 30 years. As a business management major at Bryant & Stratton Business Institute, Carl duplicated our painting operation process from tri for the new company and increased business steadily until 1993. The owner of a large customer in passing advised us to start powder coating or we would be out of business soon. We did not have a clue what it was but he was right because with-in 3 years painting only represented 10% of our business and powder coating represented 90%. Today 95% of everything we coat is powder coated. Other than the powder coating application equipment, we were already set up to do powder coating. We use the exact same process for cleaning with steam, Iron phosphate and zinc phosphate baths, baking utilizing the same batch ovens and
oven carts.
This lengthy experience we acquired over the years prepared us with knowledge many of our competitors never learned. Anyone who started out first in powder coating (which is most) have no idea about the very labor intensive process in the old industrial painting process. Powder coating is about 50 to 60% less labor intensive and so the cost to the applicator is greatly reduced. Today’s powder coating companies with no previous experience in industrial painting base their prices on the fact that powder coating is far superior to painting not on what it actually costs to produce. Those inexperienced coaters think if the customer paid $4.00 to paint a specific part then powder coated it should be $6.00 or $7.00 due to the superiority. In actuality, that is the exact opposite position to take. The price should go down because it is cheaper to powder coat. Our pricing is based solely on what it cost to produce not what it is worth.
What we can do for the private customer
Our private customers come to us to solve their powder coating needs for an enormous variety of personal products. Often the giant powder coating companies send them to us because large conveyer systems built for volume are not profitable for small individual orders. We satisfy them with expertise in coating automotive after market products, marine products, home products like bath tubs or porch railings and motor cycle and automobile hobbyist restorations..
We are the only powder coater we know of that puts on an exhibit at all the indoor and outdoor auto shows in the area. The pictures on this website are part of an over 40 foot long exhibit.
We are the only powder coater we know of that applies extreme heat coatings on headers, exhaust manifolds, mufflers and pipes. These powder coatings are designed to withstand 1500 degrees and we have a proven track record at the track (no pun intended)
We are the only powder coater we know of that applies the exact OEM color match to
specific auto manufacturer exhaust manifolds to comply with the original build sheet spec.
We are the only powder coater we know of that carries every degree of shine in blacks to comply with the many different auto manufacturer’s exact chassis and component parts color shades. Muscle cars have varied specific colors to match and we carry every one we have had a call for. Example; 70 degree gloss black color match for all GM 1964 and newer cars. We carry 60 degree gloss black for 63 and older GM cars. Stock wheels also have exact color reproduction specifications. Example; The exact Argent silver color match in super durable powder for GM corvette and Monte Carlo steel rally wheels. All the manufacturers have their own special color traits for motors and motor parts like ford blue or
Chevy orange with some parts originally plated. Example; The reproduction color of the hood hinges zinc phosphate plating on the 66 SS
Chevelle's, 442’s and GTO’s.
On any given day we have over $100,000.00 worth of powder in hundreds and hundreds of 50 pound boxes in hundreds of colors ready to beautify your parts. They range from super high gloss, regular gloss, medium gloss, satin, low luster, flat, wrinkle, texture, peals and
hammer tones in regular and super durable finishes. Each coating is designed to meet a specific need to your application. We do all of this with an unlimited lifetime guarantee. If it fails in any way return the parts to be re-powder coated.
Oops, you gouged your beautiful wheels up against the curb ! Returnum, no problemo. WOW, you tried a nitrous oxide fuel set up and increased the temp of your exhaust an additional 500 degrees and you burned spots on the headers. Returnum, we’ll make them pretty again N/C. OUCH, some fool “T” bones your classic Camaro on the right front the first day you got it back together (after we powder coated everything under the hood) and your out for a cruse. Cash that insurance check, pay that collision man, get us the replacement parts for what we coated originally and don’t bring any money when you pick them up from us. Bahda Bing, Bahda Boom. Now that’s what I’m talkin about. That’s a guarantee !!!
Truth is, the accident could have happened 5 years later with the same result. The only time we will not re-coat your part over is if you bring it
specifically because you want a color change.
Nationally, Some powder coaters have a set price available for you to see. Usually it is so high they pre qualify half the potential customers that decide they can’t afford to get it done. Those prices are usually
exorbitant with very high profits that over come the loss of the masses seeking powder coating. Our prices are totally based on time and production based on experience. We charge $70.00 per hour. We have seen competitors charge $45.00 for 1 auto oil pan with no negotiation. If you sent that 1 oil pan to us it would be $70.00 If you sent 10 oil pans it would still be $70.00 because we can do around 10 oil pans in 1 hour. That brings the cost of that oil pan down to $7.00 each. Quite a difference get the picture? The key to the best price is bring a large amount of parts at 1 time. Customer #1 brings every part he wants powder coated for his Harley first trip. His bill is $450.00 Customer #2 brings his complete cycle in over 10 trips. His bill is $1,100. Same bike, same parts. Additional examples of price benefits will follow.
